#BlackProsperity because even as a basic human agreement, people still have trouble stating unequivocally that Black lives matter. Because yet another unarmed Black man was shot by the officers sworn to serve and protect our communities. Because white supremacy is so ingrained in America that we’re seen as unpatriotic for actively standing up against it. We need to resource our families and friends with nutrition and wellness, love and celebration of joy, schools and music venues. We want Black Prosperity in our lifetime. 🏳️🌈 The Supreme Court reached the only acceptable conclusion: employers cannot fire a person for being trans or queer. This doesn’t like EXPAND current civil rights to protect more people, it simply recognizes that the law passed in 1964 in fact does apply to our LBGTA+ community.
Certain close-minded people STILL believe it’s perfectly okay to discriminate based on a human being’s sexual orientation or gender status. Stand up to them and help them understand why they’re on the wrong side of history.
The close-minded person’s religion shouldn’t be an impediment to recognizing the essential humanity in all folx. “Job discrimination against gay and transgender workers is still legal in much of the nation. Some 29 states currently allow some form of discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation or gender identity in employment, housing and public accommodation.
Under the current administration many state legislatures have advanced bills that target the rights of transgender people in particular.”

There is a link in my bio to a document of Anti-Racism Resources For White People. It’s just unacceptable to remain silent, even if you may think your white voice is clumsy or ignorant or unwelcome. You can start by educating yourself and listening to non-white voices talk about race. Instagram is full of (@theconsciouskid @officialmillennialblack ) good tips on how to be an ally. I would try absorbing a bunch of that stuff and seeing what resonates, then if you feel compelled you could direct other people to those resources and invite them to do their own important work on confronting a lifetime of socialized racist bullshit and how we can help start to dismantle it without putting ourselves at the center of the narrative. Let’s amplify black voices. Black Lives Matter. I grew up so unimaginably privileged. We can all do so much better.
